Summer Job for Youths Aged 16-17

We are looking for engaged youths who want to assist with various tasks at our care and nursing homes, as well as those of you who are "EPA-youth" to support tasks within regular housing.

The Summer Job Includes

The summer job includes tasks in the kitchen, cleaning, shopping, laundry, and social interaction. These positions provide you with a unique opportunity to create memories while developing important skills that will be beneficial in your future career. You will gain experience in collaborating with others, learning to be empathetic and understanding towards elderly people while relieving other care staff with various tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Before summer, we have two main focuses for our youth summer jobs, either at care and nursing homes or within regular housing.

Care and Nursing Homes, 16 Positions

There are six care and nursing homes in Mariestad municipality, one of which is a short-term residence. Elderly people live there in their own apartments and need support in their daily lives.

The tasks consist of:

• Setting and clearing tables during meals
• Loading and unloading the dishwasher
• Cleaning
• Emptying trash
• Managing laundry
• Social interaction - e.g., reading, playing games, conversing, taking walks

The working hours are scheduled during weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00, allowing you to enjoy summer evenings and time off after work. You will be placed at one of the six homes. To support you in your work, you will be assigned a supervisor who will guide you through the tasks and be available to answer your questions.

The summer job lasts for a period of 4 weeks during weeks 26-29 or 30-33. You will be employed as service staff, and we offer you a competitive salary of 115 SEK per hour.

Regular Housing, 4 Positions

There are nine areas with regular housing in Mariestad municipality where employees visit the elderly in their own apartments, row houses, or villas.

The tasks involve:

• Shopping and delivering food to the elderly
• Cleaning

Shopping and cleaning are done together with a staff member from the service unit. Delivery of groceries is done together with your youth colleague.

The working hours are scheduled during weekdays from 07:30 to 16:30, allowing you to enjoy summer evenings and time off after work. You will be employed under the Service Unit belonging to area 9 within regular housing. Work shifts start from Humlet on Drottninggatan in central Mariestad where you will learn about the day's route. In the morning, shopping is done at Ica Oxen followed by deliveries made with your EPA vehicle. After lunch, the tasks involve about three cleaning assignments carried out in the afternoon.

The summer job lasts for a period of 4 weeks during weeks 26-29 or 30-33, and we have 4 positions available. You will be employed as service staff, and we offer you a competitive salary of 115 SEK per hour. When using your own EPA vehicle, you will also receive a mileage reimbursement of 25 SEK/mile. To support you in your work, you will be assigned a supervisor who will guide you through the tasks and be available to answer your questions.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be suitable for this summer job, it is important that you have a strong interest in elderly people and their well-being. You are service-minded and want to make a difference in their daily lives.

It is important that you have good reading comprehension and can understand and speak fluently with residents and staff. We appreciate that you are cheerful and positive and dare to take the initiative for activities for residents. No experience is needed, just the right attitude and willingness to learn!

You must be at least in the 9th grade during the spring and be at least 16 years old during the year, and you must not have turned 18 before June 1.

For those interested in "EPA services" within home care, you must have an AM driver's license and your own A-tractor or moped car with valid insurance, which must be verified during the recruitment process.
